Snips from Swimweek

Miami Swimweek 2014 has come and gone once again. If you've never attended MBSW festivities before, you'll definitely want to mark your calendars for next year. Fashion shows, pool parties, and roaming swimsuit goddesses (not to mention quite a few good looking gentlemen) command Miami Beach for an entire week - making it the place you want to be.

This year, I had the opportunity to attend the WildFox rooftop pool party, and the Funkshion sponsored fashion shows, which showcased up-and-coming designers OMG Miami Swimwear and SOAH.

The pool party, simply put, was fun. Complete with complimentary cocktails, take-home trinkets and free manicures - the women needless to say were in heaven. A few aspiring and established swim week models made an appearance, including Sports Illustrated model (aka Adam Levine's smoking hot ex), Nina Agdal, pictured below.

WildFox Miami SwimWeek Pool Party

Both of Funkshion shows were crowded with Miami elite and city walkers on a typical hot summer evening. Popular tunes of today rocked the outdoor patio of the SLS Hotel on Miami Beach as the shows took place. Over 30 new swimsuit sets were modeled down the runway for each collection. While the OMG's strappy pieces embraced a sexy, fierce "YoncĂ©" look, SOAH held true to their classic, laid-back beach babe style. Both designer collections - equally gorgeous - embraced their own style and delivered a kick-a$$ show.

Below are some snapshots of my favorite pieces from each designer:

Blowing kisses to the camera, Metisha (model), makes
her grand entrance in this fiery-red OMG Swim piece.

This one piece OMG Swimsuit enveloped a perfect
combination of class and sexiness! Love!

These beach pants had my name written all over them!
Perfect cover up to sport this summer by SOAH!

SOAH, I have one word: Obsessed!

This SOAH swimsuit was one of the more different
ones. Straying away from the "beach-boho" look, this
piece definitely got some attention!

Those were just a few of the many gorgeous looks at this year's Miami Swim Week fashion shows! I don't have to say it twice (but I will) - you know where you have to be this time next year! If you have questions on how to attend these events, shoot me an email!

8 Makeup Tips to Enhance Your [Already Beautiful] Eyes

We all have those days where we wake up feeling “plain Jane.” While you may have trouble picking out what to wear or adding some volume to your hair, you’ll be smooth sailing when it comes to dolling up your face! So, I've compiled a list of tips that will help you boost one of the most captivating features on your face: the eyes.

1.     Add eyeliner on top of your eyelid.
Most of us will apply eyeliner to the bottom portions of our eyes, but a solid line on top can add depth, definition and enlarge your eyes. Doing this gives you the “cat eye” effect. The key to mastering this tip is keeping the line as close to your lashes as possible and starting it thin on the inner corner of your eye and progress to a slightly thicker, wider line as you reach the outer corner.

2.     Do your prep-work.
If you don’t already have a primer, it’s time to get one. An eye-prepping cream makes a world of a difference when applying eyeshadow. Dabbing a bit of it on your eyelid will help make your eyeshadow look smooth, avoid creasing and last the entire day/night – trust me on this one.

3.     Try an eyelash curler.
This funky contraption looks almost scary to put near your eye and squeeze your eyelashes, but I promise it’s painless and so worth the investment! It will make your eyelashes curl upward, which enhances the size of your eyes and allows you to gift a jaw-dropping wink. ;)

Jesse's Girl is a liquid pen eyeliner that makes clear, precise
lines on the top of your eyelids easy to do! Get yours today!
4.     Use eyeshadow colors that make your eye color pop!
Believe it or not, using certain eyeshadow colors will draw attention to your eyes. This isn’t a tip for people with only exotic-looking eye colors like you may be thinking – there are eyeshadows that work for all eye colors. Check it out:

     ·       Brown eyes? Stick to neutrals like
pinks and dark browns to deepen
          those brown-eyed girl tones.
     ·       Green eyes? Violet and plum colors
will make your green goddess eyes
          radiant!
     ·       Blue eyes? Baby blues could always
          use some yellow/orange shadows to
add contrast and brightness to the
          face.

Problem solved.

5.     Always, always slap on some mascara.
Even if you decide you don’t want to wear an ounce of makeup for the day, make the extra effort to put on your mascara before walking out the door. Defining your eyelashes is the simplest way to enhance all the characteristics of your eyes and still keep them looking bright and beautiful effortlessly.

6.     Concealer is your friend.
Let’s face it, we all wake up with bags under our eyes after long days/nights of work and other activities – so do something about it! Concealer is single-handedly the easiest way to take care of this issue. Apply it under your eyes to clear any bags, shadows and/or wrinkles you may naturally have. Oh, by the way – it acts as a “foundation,” so feel free to cover that little pimple you have on your forehead or those stray brow hairs with it too!

7.     Focus on the inner corners.
Have you ever tried applying a little bit of shimmer or white/light eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes? Not only do the eyeshadows look spectacular, your eyes will look brighter! Remember when your mom told you, “It’s what’s inside that counts?” Well, she was right.

8.     Don’t forget your brows!
Your eyebrows can literally ‘make or break’ your face. Don’t ignore them. Keep them trim and clean by plucking stray hairs whenever you see them growing in. I understand we don’t always have the time to analyze and fix our brows, so in that case, refer to tip #6 as an alternative!

Whether you try one or all of the mentioned tips, we’re confident you’ll see a change in your everyday look. You’ll be amazed that something so simple (like applying your mascara) can make such a big difference in your appearance. So get up, doll yourself up and let your eyes do the talking! Let me know how it works for you. Stay tuned this weekend - I'll be at some shows for Miami Swim Week bringing you live updates on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook! Until next time..
